Lions Camp Strandenga Environment 2023

Publisert av Vibeke Katrine Aasland den 07.10.21. Oppdatert 14.10.22.

Welcome to our international youth camp and the beautiful district of lake Mjøsa.

The camp period is July 27th - August 12th 2023.

Youth Camps and Exchange (YCE) has programs all around the world. The purpose is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among peoples of the world.

Lions Camp Strandenga Environment is arranged by Lions Distrikt 104 B of Norway.

Camp address: Strandengvegen 110, 2837 Biristrand, Norway.

Camp Strandenga Environment:

‘’Mjøsa – not just a lake.’’

Lake Mjøsa is Norway’s largest lake, thus our most important fresh water resource. A huge environmental initiative has recently started; We need to save Mjøsa!

We must learn to see the bigger picture. We need to preserve our natural resources for the generations to come. This is the camp’s primary focus. Today we have so many things we can easily live without, but water is not. Water is life.

Activities

The camp will take place at Strandenga, a beautiful camp site on the shores of lake Mjøsa.

Through excursions we will explore Mjøsa’s role in the community. We will learn about the ecology of the lumber industy, from small plants to building materials.

We will visit timber constructions, such as the world’s tallest wooden building.

We encourage the participants to show and tell how environmental preservation is practiced in their home country.

Nobody needs to be super fit, but we think the camp will appeal to those who love the outdoors – no matter the weather.
